WELCOME TO THE KINGDOM OF WONDER
Cambodia is a country rich in culture, historical and natural diversity, and is starting to take its rightful place as one of the leading tourism destinations in Asia. The Angkor Wat temple complex and the more than a thousand ancient ruins that dot the countryside can take visitors back to the ancient times of the great Khmer Empire. This charming land of gentle people has opened its doors to offer visitors a unique experience, fascinating traditional dances, centuries of history and some of the world's most splendid ancient temples. The architectural marvels of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, are proudly preserved as world heritage sites. Besides Phnom Penh, the capital city and hub of politics and business, another major tourist destination is Siem Reap Province, which is rich in culture and history with well over a hundred ancient temples. And the Royal Cambodian Government, through its natural and coastal resources, is now actively promoting eco-tourism spots as alternative destinations for relaxation and adventure. Indeed, Cambodia's coastal area has great potential as a major tourist destination with its pristine beaches, underwater treasures and wide range of aquatic activities. Cambodia's eco-tourism sites offer visitors exquisite landscapes, waterfalls, wildlife, tribal villages and rare species of bird, flora and fauna that have fascinated explorers, naturalists and bird watchers for centuries. Moreover, the range and quality of transportation, accommodation and infrastructure in the country is expanding to meet the ever-growing numbers of visitors coming to Cambodia. Cambodia is waiting to warmly welcome all foreign visitors to visit our world heritage sites, particularly Angkor Wat, and to experience the true warmth of Khmer hospitality. WELCOME TO SIEM REAP TOWN
Nestled between rice paddies and stretched along the Siem Reap River, the provincial capital of Siem Reap Town serves as the gateway to millennium-old temple ruins of the Angkorian-era Khmer Empire. Siem Reap Town is where you will stay during your visit. The area has been receiving foreign visitors to the temples for over 100 years. The town is actually a cluster of old villages, which originally developed around individual pagodas, and was later overlain with a French colonial-era center. The main body of Siem Reap town stretches about 3km north/south along the Siem Reap River and roughly 4-5km east/west along Road #6. There are approximately 90,000 people living in town and 800,000 people in the province. Siem Reap town can be roughly divided into the following five areas: 1; Taphul Village Area (West), 2; Old French Quarter (Central), 3; Wat Bo Area (East), 4; Old Market Area (South), and 5; Wat Damnak Area (South East). Old Market area is the best choice for your stay in Siem Reap . The name Siem Reap means 'Siamese Defeated', hardly the most tacful name for a major city near Thailand. Imagine Birmingham with name 'Germany Defeated'? When you stay in Siem Reap Angkor Wat, you will be get more experience that the most wonderful in the world heritage, it's Angkor Wat temple. Your accommodation is nearby Angkor Wat have a lot of hotel so everything almost more comfortable and so nice days. We are Cambodian people so pride, and happy to welcome you with warm, we offer you with the best service and good quality, cheap price. WELCOME TO PUB STREET AND THE PASSAGE
After the sun goes down, the focus shifts a block east of the Old Market to 'Pub Street,' so named for the numerous and varied restaurants and pubs that line the road from one end to the other. It all began in 1998 when Angkor Wat Bar opened its doors - the first pub on the street. These days Pub Street in line end to end with Bars and Restaurants. You can find all kinds of cuisines on Pub Street including Khmer, French,Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Italian and a variety of other international foods. Most of the Bars are open all day but really get going around 5:00 pm as many people return from the temples and come to take advantage of the various happy hour deals. So, where would you like to eat in down town? The khmer Kitchen restaurant is recommended. And the Red Piano for drinks! WHERE TO SLEEP IN SIEM REAP TOWN ?
Siem Reap offers a range and variety of hotels wide enough to satisfy most tastes and requirements - from family-run guesthouses to 5-star luxury.Though staying right in the middle of town is a bit more convenient to the Old Market and Sivutha Blvd area, Siem Reap is relatively small making all locations almost equally convenient to the temples, town and tourist areas. Standard mid-range rooms with air-conditioning, cable TV and en suite bathroom with hot water begin at around $15/night, but average between $25 and $60. Boutique hotels, offering local flavor with a stylishly refined ambiance, are becoming quite popular, ranging from under $100 to more than $300/night. Near by the Old Market and Pub Street is the most popular places to stay for most tourists. Please feel free to request for the free pick-up service from me, then take you to the right places where you have planed to stay, or I would be able to make a reservation for you also with lower price! OTHER THINGS TO DO IN SIEM REAP TOWN
Traditional Performance: No visit to Cambodia is complete without attending at least one performance. Traditional Khmer dance is better described as 'dance drama' in that the dances are not merely dance but are also meant to convey a story or message. And Apsara Dancing Show is the most popular performance for most tourists. Some restaurants in Siem Reap town offer the Apsara Show included buffet (serve all kinds of Khmer and Asian food). Booking with me only $12/ person. Cambodian Cultural Village
A unique, sprawling cultural attraction, intended to introduce the visitors to Cambodia culture and history. Interesting wax museum features scenes and figures from history. Large park area with 1/20th scale models of important cultural sites and landmarks. Full scale models of variety of Cambodian architectural types. Live shows, traditional dance performances and music. Angkor National Museum
The Angkor National Museum in Siem Reap offers eight chronologically ordered galleries of Angkorian-era artifacts and multi-media presentations of Angkorian history and culture. The Museum has just recently opened its doors and is still in the process of putting the finishing touches on some of it's exhibits. Hours: 8:30am - 6:30pm. Floating Village
Chong Khneas Village:Chong Khneas is the floating village at the edge of the lake closest and most accessible to Siem Reap. If you want a relatively quick and easy look at the Tonle Sap, boat tours of Chong Khneas are available, departing from the Chong Khneas boat docks all day long. The Boatman will probably point out the different Khmer and Vietnamese floating house-holds and the floating markets, clinics, schools, and other boatloads of tourists. Chong Khneas, while interesting, is over-touristed and is not as picturesque and 'unspoiled' as floating villages futher from Siem Reap. The boat trip usually includes two stops: one at a touristly floating 'fish and birds exhibition' with a souvenir and snack shop, and the other at the highly recommended Gecko Environment Centre, which offers displays and information intruducing the ecology and biodiversity at the lake area. Boat Tour $15/pax, 1h:30-round trip. Kampong Phluk
Kampong Phluk is a cluster of three villages of stilted houses built within the floodplain of the Tonle Sap about 16km southeast of Siem Reap. The Villages are primarily Khmer and have about 3000 inhabitants between them. Flooded mangrove forest surrounds the area and is home to a variety of wildlife including crab-eating macaques. During the dry season when the lake is low, the buildings in the villages seem to soar atop their 6-meter stilts exposed by the lake of water. At this time of year many of the villagers move out onto the lake and build temporary stilted houses. In the wet season when water level rises again, the villagers move back to their permanent houses on the floodplain, the stilts now hidden under the water. Boat Tour $20/pax, 3 h-round trip. Bird Sanctuary & Biosphere of Prek Toal
Prek Toal is one of three biospheres on Tonle Sab lake, and the establishment of its bird sanctuary makes Prek Toal the most worthwhile and straightforward to visit. It is an ornithologist's fantasy, with a significant number of rare breeds gathered in one small area, including the huge lesser and greater adjutant storks, the milky stork and the spot-billed pelican. Visitors during the dry season (December to May) will find the concentration of birds like something out of a Hitchcock film. As water starts to dry up elsewhere, the birds congregate here. Getting to the sanctuary under your own steam requires you to take a 20-minutes Moto or Taxi ride to the floating village of Chong Kneas and then a boat to the environment office (around $80 return). The Silk Farm
Set aside a couple of hours to visit the National Silk Center. The silk farm is a fascinating farm/workshop where you can see the entire silk creation process including growing the food for the silk worms (mulberry bushes), breeding the worms, silk extraction, spinning and refinement, traditional ikat dying, pattern creation, and looming. It's a very interesting and educational tour well worth the time to drive out to the silk farm. Siem Reap War Museum
Displaying a wide variety of military hardware and equipment in decrepit condition, taken from the battlefield. Heavy armor including T-54 tanks, anti-aircraft guns, artillery pieces, rocket launchers, APCs, small arms and pile of disarmed mines, bombs and small arms. Most of the larger pieces are located. Golf Courses
Siem Reap has two worthwhile golf courses to spend a few hours at if you're
